Review on LANCOSC Magnifying Stepless 5 Diopter Magnifier by Irma Brown

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Terrible design, limited functionality, overpriced

I don't like writing bad reviews, it's just that this thing is useless. The base used to mount it to a table or workbench is poorly constructed. The upper part of the collar is beveled. A small section is along the outside edge and the thickest section is near the back of the clip. This results in the entire clamp not being flush with the top of your table/bench, but tipping away from the table/bench it is attached to. 1/4" to hold on to the bottom of the table/bench. Coupled with the tapered top of the clamp top, it is impossible to securely attach the base to a table/workbench. 3) Due to #1 and #. 2 this magnifier with the clamp base will fall off the table/workbench within five minutes and fall to the ground. You MUST keep your hand on it to keep it from falling.4) The magnifier mount at the top where the arm attaches to the magnifier, has limited movement. It moves up and down by hand and rotates. It doesn't have a ball joint, which makes positioning easier. You'll have to reposition the entire loupe stand, I mean move the whole block. If you try, the clamp to use it means you have to open the lever, move it, and try to clamp again. If you're trying to use a clamp on the front edge of a table/bench and you're zooming in on something right in front of you have to, forget it. There is no way (no connection) to change the position of the magnifying glass to see it. You must use a flat base. The reason I use a clip is to hold the magnifier securely in a position where it won't tip over, allowing the arm to fully extend. 5) Using a weighted basis. Don't try to pull your arm out of the base, it will tip over. You will need to add more weight to the base or move your project closer to the base of the magnifier to keep it upright. Due to the extremely poor design, I wish I had ZERO stars. It doesn't deserve a single star in my opinion. Overpriced due to poor design/limited functionality. This will be sent back.
