For pumping water to baby water table (pond water table with Step2 shower tower) using 15-20 feet of 1/2" vinyl pond hose and 5" tank per gallon bucket. Great for little ones projects. I think it will work for a small pond fountain, but it will only pump a few feet off the ground depending on the size of your hose and fountain nozzle. The pump is not very variable. Suction rate has very little effect on pump performance (there is a difference but you cannot fine tune it).
