I've been using a Canon S3-IS for 10 or 15 years and before that a Canon AE-1 for many years. I was looking for a small waterproof camera suitable for travel. I was thinking of something like a GoPro, but to be honest that would be overkill for an action game at my age. I decided that a digital SLR would suit my needs better. Since I've always had a Canon, I went with them first. Very powerful but expensive and HEAVY! A little research led me to the Micro Four Thirds format in terms of weight and features. It's also "weatherproof," which I recently tested on a trip to Isle Royale National Park. In the meantime I have bought him an Olympus 14-150 lens and I am very satisfied! I can do long shots, short shots, portraits and everything in between. I like the possibility to take panorama shots, the time-lapse function works perfectly. Multi-shot and 4K video are on the quick dial, which is important to me when shooting my grandson. I'm still experimenting with the many features available and seriously doubt I'll ever be able to master even a small fraction of them. The photos are nice close-ups, and the time-lapse has turned into a video (and it's happening!) of the opening of the Moonflower.
