Review on Astromania III Filter Produces Near Photographic by Peter Mendoza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Don't let the low price fool you

I'm a hardcore space veteran and now have my fifth scope, the 18" Dobsonian. On a whim, I decided that I needed a filter with an even narrower bandwidth than a UHC (Ultra High Contrast) filter to sample the Vela supernova remnant from the ultra-dark skies of Big Bend National Park, Texas. I was afraid to take this one because of its low price, but I was on a budget and I was in a hurry. I'm glad I got it. It worked. Freezing my cock at 3am on a cold, crystal clear November night gave me the look I wanted. This was a disappointment for any object that shines brightest in hydrogen light, but if you know what nebulae glow like veils in oxygen III light, get this filter. You will not regret it.

Pros
  • I have my fingers crossed for you
Cons
  • sad packaging
