Firstly it is the same as Muxlab module. I have both It has an edge over all similar units I've researched on Revain's pages. When you write to an NTFS formatted storage device, it will literally write to your storage limit as a single file for hours. You can record 2-hour or more movies and programs from a cable box in one file. To summarize the advantages and one disadvantage: 1. It can record long videos in one file if your storage device is formatted in NTFS.2. It can record from cable TV or Blu-ray player.3. The downside is the lack of a pass-through feature. If the device is switched off, the video will not be transmitted to your TV. I think the HDMI input on the Muxlab device was frayed and sporadic due to too much plugging and unplugging, so I just leave that input on and off all the time and see if it works better.
