Review on ⚡️ Amprobe AM-520 HVAC Multimeter: Non-Contact Voltage Detection & Temperature Measurement by Wayne Drakh

Slow autoranging and inaccurate temperature readings

I bought the unit primarily for HVAC so good temperature readings are important. Based on the positive reviews I was hoping this would suit my needs as it was quite cheap for the features advertised. This showed my body temperature under the tongue with 30 degrees Celsius, while other well-known good thermometers showed it with a typical 30 degrees Celsius. In this area it was constantly 2 degrees lower. It would then read a slush of about 34.6, while other known good thermometers would read a few tenths above zero. In this area it was constantly 2 degrees higher. There was also no temperature calibration potentiometer to account for this. The microfarad readings of the capacitors appeared to be fairly accurate, but it took more than 15 seconds to autorange and determine the capacitance. I ended up sending it back and buying the field part. It was more than twice the price, but the temperature readings are much faster and more accurate. Capacitor readings are also much faster.
