Review on πŸ’§ APEC FI PHPLUS20 BB Alkaline Replacement Water Filter by Dean Wildfang

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The 10 micron filter probably works but the calcite doesn't

I bought this to raise my pH. I don't care about the 10 micron filter. I already have a 50, 10, 1 and 0.05 micron filter and UV lamp in my system. July 23, 2021. I installed this on my downhole system in June of this year with no headaches. Used a big blue suitcase. I installed it after the hydraulic tank. As such, it can easily withstand 60 pounds of pressure. I use the Apera Ph test kit which I also bought here at Revain. Which is incredibly accurate. Our water normally has a pH of around 6.61 and is therefore slightly acidic. For the first few days after installing the filter we were at 7.01 Ph. Today is July 23rd and we are back at 6.61. I plan to take the filter out, check its integrity and maybe shake it a little to disturb the calcite inside which has settled under pressure. The meter in our system shows that we have used 2670 gallons of water since June 23rd. The filter is rated for 24,000 gallons. This filter was supposed to last us 9 months, but it only lasted a few days. The misleading part is they say it's rated at 24,000 gallons, but is it a filter or calcite? A 10 micron filter may be fine for this amount of water, but a calcite filter is only good for 1 week. I'll have to call the manufacturer direct to see if 24k covers both filters and calcite.
