This glass is the perfect size and shape for a variety of spirits in my opinion, but I've personally only tried it with bourbon and rye. The top concentrates the bouquet of the liquid in the glass on the nose (and may concentrate it too much on the first pour. I pour and wait about 5 minutes, which is difficult if you just want to dip!). And the size of the jar is small enough to pour sparingly without being too delicate to hold in hand. Finally, this glass is built to last: I saw this comment from other reviewers, but I saw it in action: I reached for a glass of rye but somehow missed it (maybe it was the second glass of that rye, or my hand was just slippery ) . - and no cracks or scratches. So no tears over broken glass, just sobs over spilled rye (and mess: one of those blobs where more liquid appears everywhere and on everything than could have been in the glass to begin with). Since then I've put these glasses in our Bosch dishwasher many times (originally handwashed, mistakenly thinking the glasses were too brittle) and have had no issues with wear or film on the glasses. Therefore, I declare that they are dishwasher safe. sure, based on that experience. Having first seen these glasses in a nearby bar I naturally had to assume that they could be cleaned in a dishwasher as glasses are treated that way in most bars these days.
