Review on ๐Ÿ›๏ธ SafeRest Queen Size Zippered Mattress Protector - Premium Waterproof Cover for 9-12 Inch Beds - Breathable & Noiseless Encasement - Washable Mattress Guard by Ann George

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It takes time to prepare properly, but it's worth it.

I ordered this mattress pad for my friend who had bed bugs a few years ago and is still scared of them. He just bought a new queen size pillow top mattress a few months ago and I thought now would be the perfect time to protect him and give him some peace of mind. To be clear, around the time this happened we discovered what we thought was a single bed bug that was short or short of adulthood and I got a few bites during the week I stayed there and on slept in a new bed. Between these protectors (I bought one for the springs and one for the mattress), a heat gun and plenty of diatomaceous earth. them), the error never appeared again. Recommend the dust in combination with these covers to anyone who struggles with bed bugs. I recommend opening the packaging and inspecting the stitching - everything including the zipper - and inspecting the fabric for any imperfections. There were several reviews complaining of loose stitching or tears. They're made in huge factories on machines running at incredible speeds - sometimes things go wrong at this speed and scale, so it never hurts to check. Both of ours were great. In addition, some complained of a "chemical" or "plastic" smell. They're a little strong, but first put them in the washer and dryer as directed on the packaging and they'll dissolve. We washed two covers together, nothing else. We originally left them closed to avoid damaging the zipper's thin spool, but in hindsight I would have liked to have left it completely open. When spinning, closed zippers and waterproof covers created huge water balloons that kept throwing the washing machine off balance. We opened them to drain the water and everything was fine. They take an incredibly long time to dry. Just hold them down, be patient and take them out to put them back in the dryer to dry evenly. Some reviewers have reported that their covers melt or become brittle when dry from overheating. Just chilling. You had to wait for the item to be delivered to your door, waiting a few hours for the dryer to dry won't hurt you. We can easily put them on together, but with patience and skill, one person can do it. With two people, it is easier to prevent the cover from ripping after installation when putting the mattress in place. Four months ago I gave my boyfriend a box spring and mattress for his new bed. A few years ago he encountered bed bugs which caused him a minor injury. If you're guaranteed to scold him, just ask him about it. Come to think about it, don't go there. We're not going there at all. But back to the covers. I read a lot of reviews before buying - mostly good and a few very bad. We haven't had any problems with any of our covers. Here's what we checked out based on the negative reviews (and common sense): - Check all stitching for tears, loose stitches etc, stitch by stitch to make sure you don't miss anything. - Check the fabric. all that. for breaks, hook threads, holes and the like. Do this right out of the box so you can track your progress along the fold lines - Machine wash your bedspreads with a little soap to neutralize the "chemical" smell. Unzip the zipper fully to prevent a giant ball of water from forming trying to smother the agitator when your washing machine is bouncing around like a raging rodeo bull (yes, that's what happened). Open the zipper fully to avoid damage from opening the zipper when the two sides try to go in opposite directions. - CHECK THE HEAT RATE OF YOUR DRYER - Reduce it so you don't risk melting synthetics. If you feel like you're wasting a ridiculous amount of time going through it and you feel like you're worrying too much, then DO IT RIGHT! Help it dry evenly and (slightly) faster. I believe we put our covers through about 4 drying cycles. - Hire two people to help dress. This is done easily and quickly with a little teamwork and planning, and helps avoid potential problems or breakage. We attached the sleeve to one end and slid it into place, then zipped it up one side before discarding it. Then we lifted the zippered side to straighten the bottom of the cover. close together and aligned. The zipper is small and thin, so it can form a good insect barrier. Be nice to her and she should really button up. We had a few "sticky spots" where it wouldn't close all the way. Just gently pull and zip up or unzip and try again. If you're upset, leave. It might not be worth breaking that zip after all the time and money you've spent on it so far. If you already have bed bugs, understand that this coating is not magical kryptonite that kills bed bugs just because it is in the same room. It can just kill the bugs that have invaded on the already infested mattress and keep them there until they starve (say a year or something crazy). Diathema (sp?) Earth kills any bug it comes in contact with. Try using this in combination with your covers.
