This spoon is by far the BEST spoon I have ever bought. I've had kittens my entire adult life. I currently have two fur babies; Nicodemus of Wittikitty and Prince Legolas of Mirkwood. To meet her potty needs, I have two large litter boxes that I fill up daily. As most cat owners know, plastic scoops are useless; If wet garbage sinks to the bottom of the tray, dries up and gets stuck, the handle of the plastic dustpan will most likely break when you try to use it to break up, scrape and remove the garbage from the tray. The problem with many metal scoops is that over time, cat urine will corrode the metal in the scoop portion. The previous metal paddles I had lasted 3 to 8 months before corrosion caused the edge of the paddle and/or the metal between the slots to snap off, rendering the paddle unusable. I bought this shovel in November 2015. Here we are in May 2018 - 2 1/2 years later - and the sensation still lingers! There are no signs of corrosion, not a single part of the handle is bent or has come loose even with daily use. I can use as much effort as needed to loosen dried clumps of litter on the bottom/sides of the tray without worrying about the handle breaking. Every few weeks I take a paper towel and scrape off the dried litter that's stuck to the scoop, then rinse it off with an SOS pad and hot water. When clean it looks like new. I find the size and spacing of the slots/holes in the bucket sufficient. I use Tidy Cats Lightweight Clumping cat litter and the scoop picks up all but the smallest clumps (I'd say pea-sized or bigger). Very happy with the work of this shovel. Highly recommended!
