These are pretty interesting headphones. I have to give credit to Altec Lansing for the clever packaging as it mimics the glow effect. The body of the buds looks beautiful. Obviously, the glow effect literally makes them stand out. The brightness is impressive. It looks like you're wearing party glow sticks on your head. I found them pretty cool in their Tron way and will definitely help protect me when I'm walking or running at night. If the glow is too intense, you can turn it off. The case is large and oddly shaped, making it impractical to carry in your pocket. It has a very glossy finish that is resistant to smudges and fingerprints. Also, I'm not happy with the locking mechanism as I would have preferred a magnetic lid. The buds fit snugly there and are attached with magnets. As usual with hook earbuds, the right earbud goes to the left and the left to the right, which takes a bit of getting used to. Like most sports headphones, they're IPX4 rated, so sweat a little. or rain is no problem. I would like a higher rating but that won't break the deal. Bluetooth 5.0 ensures easy pairing and a reliable connection. I could walk around my medium sized apartment with no problem. I barely noticed any lag when watching videos or playing games. The True Glow earbuds feature a regular behind-the-ear hook so they stay in place more securely. The hook is soft and adjustable, sits comfortably behind the ear. However, I did find that the buds' body was a bit too big, making them a little uncomfortable and constantly bouncing around when walking. It also prevented the gel tips from completely clogging the ear cavities, which also affected the sound. The battery lasts around 4 hours, which is normal, and the Qi wireless charging case adds another 20 hours. Sound, I was a bit disappointed at first. This is due to the aforementioned lack of proper sealing due to the size of the case. It was not possible to plant deeper in the ear, the sound insulation is poor. This had a major impact on the bass. I'll admit that fit is subjective and depends on the shape of the ear, but I don't usually come across it. Luckily I was able to find the ear tips and replaced them with longer ones and got a good fit. I immediately noticed that the sound has become much fuller and more pleasant. The bass is more pronounced, if a bit loose for my taste. The mids are slightly deepened, but vocals and rhythm instruments can still be distinguished. The highs are also a bit more pronounced, but not fatiguing or harsh. While the sound might not satisfy music lovers, I found it comfortable enough when exercising or running, ignoring critical hearing and just listening to music or a podcast. Ultimately, I think these buds serve the main purpose of providing a secure and snug fit when exercising, especially at night. Again, in my experience, to get the best sound, which is average, you had to swap tips. I also don't like the case design. At the suggested retail price these buds are hard to recommend. But if you're an avid night sports enthusiast, these might be something for you, especially if they're offered at a discount.
