breaks easily, difficult to apply

trying to wrap this product around a 4 inch pipe, but once it comes into contact with the pipe it cannot be moved or adjusted because the tape is so brittle is that it just breaks off. You can tear off this tape with your fingers like play-doh. Other reflective tapes do not tear.
