The lack of prongs doesn't matter if my daughter and I are pulling all our hair up, but if we want to grab a smaller amount of hair, say for a half up and down style, a black prong bar will do. better than the other three. Overall the clips work well for styling and conditioning my long thin hair as well as my teenage daughter's very long thick hair but I'm shooting stars due to stains and missing teeth on some of the clips. .
