Review on IPROVEN® Digital Thermometer - Rectal And Oral With Flexible Tip, 10-Second Read, Fever Alarm, And Hardcase For The Whole Family by Gary Cole

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good purchase but for my opinion

I finally purchased this digital thermometer due to the Coronavirus pandemic to replace my ancient (but still useable) mercury thermometer. I appreciate the flexiblity which makes it more comfortable in the mouth. I don't necessarily hear the beep (without my hearing aids) so I count 10 sec., no worries. I rated this 4 instead of 5 because of the tiniest screw ever keeping the battery compartment closed. Yes, there are tiny screwdrivers available on Best Buy, I just looked. However, we shouldn't have to purchase one. A screwdriver should be provided with the thermometer. Plus, there is no indication anywhere as to which specific battery this uses. Bottom line, digital is nice but I'm keeping the ancient mercury thermometer as a backup. EDIT: As of today, 12/21/2021 - this thermometer is 1/4 of the price I paid for it. There certainly was price gouging going on at the height of COVID-19.

Pros
  • Convenient product during COVID for quick results
Cons
  • The thermometer is not waterproof, making it difficult to clean and sanitize

So far, reads the same temp every time. Instructions suggest turn off after a read, the on/off button, tho works fine to turn it on, doesn''t work to turn it off, but after @10 min, shuts itself off, as stated. Another review suggested placing under tongue for 30 sec. before turning on- that is also what worked for us. Gave reading in <45 sec. which is good considereing the (slight) weight of item is on the end that ''hangs'' out of your mouth prompts one to just hold it at that end. What we laughed at in the instructions, the three emoji-faces- (Sad for no fev
