This is a quality microscope, not the sad, frustrating plastic thing I tried to use as a kid. The only thing you really need to assemble is the microscope head and two eyepieces. Once you've done that and plugged in the power, you're off to the races. This microscope has a mechanical stage with XY control knobs on the right side and a good one arm stage clamp. There are right and left focus knobs that are easy to use. Adjustable binocular eyepieces can be changed to 10x or 20x, both included. The entire assembly weighs 3 ounces less than 7 pounds. No slides were provided, so I bought a set of pre-made biology slides. Likewise, Wanting to involve my family as easily as possible, I purchased a clip-on phone mount so I could stream and record the entire study onto a laptop. Purchasing this accessory greatly expands the possibilities for everyone, and I highly recommend purchasing it with your microscope.
