For the price I paid, I expected a cheap, thin cable. This cable is really thick and strong, 3 or 4 times thicker than any of my USB3.0 cables. Can't tell how it works with a hard drive or anything, but I use it to power a USB 3.0 hub made up of a steam controller dongle, a bluetooth dongle, my wireless keyboard and mouse dongle and finally my golden headset Sony. the presence of some interference and the reduced distance for transmission and reception when the keys were connected to the back of the computer hidden on the table. This cable allowed me to run the hub to a remote area without signal lag or anything crazy. I could stick a few dongles in the front ports of the computer to stop the interference I was getting, but that would spoil the nice, clean look of my computer and also block the ports I use with USB from time to time. Drives etc. Edit: September 9th / I bought two more of these cables to use with my Nighthawk ac1900 router on two hard drive enclosures. The supplied cables with hard drive cases caused interference in the 2.4 GHz WiFi. Use these cables to route them away from the router. No loss of speed when transferring data. Can't recommend these cables enough
