Love the knife - the sheath is another story

Very surprised at the weight and weight of the knife but it is quite well balanced. (Fig. 1) Full shank thickness tapers to a fairly sharp cutting edge right out of the box. The sharpening has made it one of the sharpest knives I own (and I've had a few from this price point to over $300-$600). However, the grip is only slightly smaller than the full-strength shaft, so you may "cut" yourself on the shaft when using it. This knife should easily gut and skin a deer in a short amount of time. Weight and weight should also be a good "meat cleaver" for cutting meat and bones. I'm definitely considering making this knife my everyday companion, especially when hunting/catching. It is VERY comfortable to hold both with the blade raised and lowered (Photo 2-4). Not much attention seems to be paid to the design of the scabbard (which I will replace or handcraft to my specifications). Carrying it on the right side puts the button lock out of reach for easy release of the knife. The same problem occurs when transferring the "cross pattern". An additional problem is that the knife can only be carried in a "vertical" position and the trailing edge of the blade sticks to the pawl itself (Fig. 5). It would be nice to see an inexpensive case similar to the one that comes with the Tom Brown "Tracker" (which I also have) so there are a few carrying options. The knife itself is unbeatable for the price and worth every penny.

Pros
  • MATERIALS: First of all you need to know that this is a man with a handcrafted knife, forged from carbon steel and manganese steel. It's not stainless steel. So you may need to keep it clean and dry after each use to protect it from rust. But high-carbon steel retains sharp edges better than stainless steel. He will help you with every perfect cut.
