Audiophile Toys: Portable Audio and Video

I've been looking for a DAP for a long time. I've been thinking about an Android based device so I can stream multiple services and save phone battery. , but none of the streaming services I subscribe to support high resolution. And my Android Pixel 2 supports aptxHD and LDAC over Bluetooth, so with the Bluetooth 5.0 adapter I can get the best online sources with the headphones I have. So my new criterion was a digital audio player that could play both .wav files from my ripped CD collection and my digitized LPs. I chose .wav over flac or high bitrate mp3 because I have the same feeling I get when I play a CD in a CD player for the first time that I don't like flac or mp3 files get. .In terms of sound I can't really pinpoint it but it seems to be there all the time. And mass storage is now so cheap that I'm happy with the file size. I now use the BBE Sonic Maximizer at home in a cue system. My audiophile friends scoff at this, but I see them tapping their toes from time to time. I love what it does to the vocals on most tracks so I seem to prefer it and use it quite a bit. immediately caught my attention. The only other alternative was a player with two stump boxes attached and a pot kit full of 9 volts. Now that doesn't sound very attractive, does it? So take my money! This thing not only meets but far exceeds my expectations in this regard. Tried an Android app that no longer exists. Not only does this thing sound great as a standalone digital audio player, but it also has many built-in audio customization options. This piece goes perfectly with my Grado PS509e professional headphones. 10 BBE+ EQ settings that adjust the amount of processing and Mach 3 bass which is similar to the Lo setting found on home devices and the 3D Surround setting which I find very interesting as using it in very small amounts is a bit more there seems to be room for an otherwise closed sound. The ambiance that headphones usually give you works great with both the Grados Open Back and the i-sane iem. Build quality and DAC chip "what is this", what is it worth. The thing is a tank. Constructed from what appears to be a solid block of stainless steel with huge reinforced headphone jacks, both balanced and unbalanced. I can't even program the second wheel as a dual volume knob to quickly turn up the volume.
