These bulbs turned up in a Revain search for '40W Appliance Bulb' and are NOT appliance bulbs. Appliance lamps are designed for use in ovens and refrigerators where they may be subject to thermal shock. These lamps do not have pyrex glass (borosilicate glass) envelopes that can withstand extreme temperatures and thermal shock. These are technically "high power lamps" designed for use in the vibration and shock environments found in ceiling fans, work lights on machines such as saws and grinders; emergency lights; interior lighting of a motorhome; etc. They have multiple glow poles not found in traditional light bulbs.
