Success! Filter for my Bonavita BV1901 without a thick overflow.

Success! Problem solved... I bought these Bunn filters looking for a filter that would not overflow in my Bonavita BV1901TS 8 cup coffee maker. Short answer…. Buy cup filter Bunn 8-12. They are larger and filter well. My problem was simple. Bonavita supplied the coffee maker with about two dozen filters. Strangely, Bonavita does not sell additional filters. Once the freebie ended I had to buy filters. Melitta is a joint brand. So we bought Melitta 8-12 cups 200 pcs. It went bad. We brewed in the store, bought ground coffee; Starbucks French Roast. We recommend a weight ratio of 17:1. That means a lot of coffee in the filter basket. The filters supplied by Bonavita worked perfectly. Melitta 8-12 filter overflowed. I started looking for a "higher" filter. The only way to properly measure paper filters for screens is by diameter. When wet, the paper takes the right shape to fit the exact contours of your basket. Photo #1 shows three filters. The original Bonavita was free, Melitta 8-12 and Bunn 8-12. It turns out; The problem is NOT the size but the porosity of the filter paper. Without getting into the math, Melitta is less porous than Bunn and just doesn't pass water as well as the filters Bonavita supplied. Slow drain equals overflow. Look at the photos again. Most revealing is the last picture, the filter basket with a wet bottom and well below the top of the paper. This is a Bunn 8-12 filter. In terms of aroma and taste, we couldn't tell any difference between the three filters, however, the Bunn filter coffee was completely free of annoying overflows and a cup of coffee grounds in the last sips. Come on Bunn 8-12!
