My son and I love coats. In the winter months it is quite warm. He usually wears a size 12. The hands are big. However, I increased the size to allow him room for additional layers and make it easy for him to move around. One thing I didn't realize prior to the introduction is that there is a gap around the neck when the hood is on. I feel that the cold wind can easily penetrate inside. Put on a scarf and fill in the space. It may also be because I ordered a size larger. I added an image to show the gap. My son doesn't like hoods anyway, he just wears a winter hat. Therefore, we are not concerned about the existence of a gap. But maybe it will help others to understand if this coat is right for their child.
