I bought this device to have only two connections when using my laptop at home: the power cord and the ZettaGuard docking station. In the past, I've also had to connect multiple USB cables and a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to use an external monitor. When I first used it, all I had to do was plug it in. I didn't have to download drivers or activate anything in the software. The USB ports get power even when the computer isn't running, so my other devices stay charged.
