Review on 🚗 Ultra-Fast Micro USB Car Charger with Coiled Cable, Fuse & Smart Technology - 24W/4.8A Dual Car Charger (Black) by Jeffrey Crutcher

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Short, flimsy cord with no flashlight on the end

I purchased this item to replace my old, worn out Verizon car charger that included a flashlight on the end of the cord where it connects to your phone connected to /device and a second USB port for my daughter to charge her iPhone. I liked my old one so much I was willing to pay Verizon $25-$30 to buy another similar one, but they don't seem to be selling them anymore (I guess since most devices use USB-C chargers now ). I found a Verizon charger with a flashlight on Revain for less than $9, but it didn't have a second USB port, so I was thrilled to find this one with a second USB port for just $4 more (still less than half the price I was expecting to pay Verizon for a replacement) and according to the Q&A it also had a flashlight - yay! Unfortunately I was very disappointed when it arrived today and not only does it not include a flashlight but the cord is very thin/weak and so short that it has to be stretched quite a bit to get from my phone on the vent mount to a charging socket . (even in my small car) which prevents the phone from hanging properly in the vent mount. Given the poor quality of the cable and the constant tension when plugged in, I doubt it will last more than a few weeks before breaking (less if you have a larger car that requires more stretching). Even if it takes longer, the unnecessary pressure will surely damage the charging port on my phone, so I'm not risking it - just return it and keep looking. On the plus side, it charges my S7 phone just as fast as my original Verizon car charger, which is twice as fast as the wall charger that came with the phone! On the other hand, the charger fits so loosely into my car outlet and the second USB plug fits in so tightly that unplugging the second cable pulls the entire charger out of the car outlet unless you're using a different one. Holding hands (which can't be done while driving!) - this was no problem with my old charger or any other charger I've ever used.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
