Review on Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3: 15.6 Inch AMD Ryzen Gaming Laptop with RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 by Athit Boonnoon PK ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A reliable product, quality is acceptable.

We are talking about the lineup of AMD Ryzen 5 4600H 3000MHz/16GB/512GB SSD/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB/DOS. It turned out to be a very controversial machine: on the one hand, really good hardware for 66k at the time of purchase and it shows decent performance in working (video and photo editing) tasks, as well as undemanding and well-optimized games. But, at the same time, depending on the severity of the task, the temperature is kept within 85-90 degrees, despite the fact that both the card and the processor do not even work at half their capacity. Imagine what will happen if you run Metro: Exodus on it. Yes, Ryzen keeps frequencies confidently, there is no throttling, but how long the device will work in such a temperature regime is a question that no one will answer. Separately, it is sad that there is no undervolting, no programs that regulate the speed of revolutions, and heating cannot be corrected on its own. I don’t recommend it for photocorrectors because of the weak screen, for gamers because of the heat. But as a typewriter or for coding with a bunch of open tabs, and sometimes for short gaming, it's perfect for the price.

Pros
  • Powerful filling at a low cost: RAM and SSD from Samsung, a decent processor, although it comes with a slightly inferior video card; Solid assembly - no backlash, squeaks and in a strict design (with the exception of a crispy touchpad); The keyboard pleased: it is convenient to type, and the layout is uncut; You can put another SSD or HDD 2.5 ff - the cable is included in the package, or an m2 drive. As for the RAM, it is not clear, Lenovo assures that 16gb is the maximum, but I read that the owners set 32, although this is at the level of rumors for me, and 16 is enough.
Cons
  • There is only formal cooling - two small coolers, two heat pipes passing through both the processor and the video card, blowing out only from one side. In addition, there is no factory software for controlling the fan speed; The screen cannot please with juicy colors, as well as decent brightness - in order not to strain your eyes, you need to either turn it up to the maximum in offline mode, or always use the device only with the charger connected. And 120Hz go nowhere, I didn’t even notice them; Marky disgustingly, you need to stock up on microfiber napkins if sloppiness irritates. There is no autonomy. With a comfortable brightness level of YouTube or Kinzo, you can watch a maximum of 2.5 hours without recharging. It can be longer if you save resources, but you won’t appreciate the reduced brightness with such a screen; Few ports, in particular only two USB; Perhaps this is a Windows system jamb, but every 5th system startup is accompanied by an unswitchable "airplane" mode, which is treated only by rebooting the system.

Pros: For the money the best choice (took for 67k without OS) Different cons: The brightness of the display is not enough for working in Photoshop.
