Does what it's supposed to do, block stray light and protect the lens IF you can put it on. For some reason, even though it's a Canon original lens hood, it doesn't fit my 18-135, which is what it's made for. It looks like the grooves for the bayonet blades aren't deep enough, it takes a lot of fiddling to seat them properly. However, once it's in, it fits snugly so you don't have to worry about it falling off. You just have to make sure it's straight and not crooked, it looks like it's going to be crooked. That's the only reason no 5 stars. UPDATE: So I'm giving it 5 stars now. It goes without saying that this is the only Canon lens hood that I encountered a problem installing correctly until I realized I did it wrong. You just have to press a little harder than usual for the blades to align properly. This ensures a correct and secure fit. Once I figured that out, installation was a breeze in any configuration. Now I give 5 stars.
