The difference between this and other brands is that day and night.

Bought a cheaper version of this lens hood from another manufacturer and everything was fine. The off-brand hood fitted my Canon 18-135mm lens well, but it felt a bit cheap. I decided to buy a genuine Canon lens hood and oh my god there is a difference! Much thicker plastic with nice black felt in the hood. The fit and finish is way better than I thought, is it worth $27? Well, no, but the $10 one broke. So if I had bought it the first time, I might not have had to buy a replacement.

The only lens hood that fits my Canon 18-135 lens

Purchased fake suggested when I bought my Canon Rebel T7i from B&H Photo. B&H didn't have a Canon in stock so I just bought another one thinking if they sell it then it must be good. The other brand was so tight I was afraid of breaking the lens putting it on so I just sent it back and looked for the original here on Revain. Fits great and can be taken off when I need it without wrestling with it. And the Canon brand wasn't much bigger than any other brand, so save yourself the trouble and optโ€ฆ

Original. for accessories

Genuine Canon quality product, fine workmanship, excellent workmanship, no smudges, lines or other visible marks. Fits snugly to the lenses it was designed for without moving or shaking. I always buy at least one original and then resell it for outdoor use. You don't want a scratched and damaged object on your lens when covering a formal event, even if you're not a professional photographer and/or don't make money from your photos. When you do it, do it in style! Expensive, but that applies toโ€ฆ

Perfect choice for capturing wildlife and unicorns in the sun

I really think you should get it if you buy camera with lens pack but you don't get it so don't cry like spilled milk . Just like organic wild unicorn milk, you essentially have to shell out a premium for a $25 piece of plastic. However, it serves its purpose and makes a noticeable difference to shots taken outdoors on a sunny day. Works great with my Canon 70D and 18-135mm IS STM lens. Holds securely and can be easily flipped when not in use. I think it's worth getting the Canon brandedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long wait time

Does what it's supposed to do, block stray light and protect the lens IF you can put it on. For some reason, even though it's a Canon original lens hood, it doesn't fit my 18-135, which is what it's made for. It looks like the grooves for the bayonet blades aren't deep enough, it takes a lot of fiddling to seat them properly. However, once it's in, it fits snugly so you don't have to worry about it falling off. You just have to make sure it's straight and not crooked, it looks like it's goingโ€ฆ

Works but not as strong as expected

I bought this lens hood for my Canon T4i with the 18-135mm STM kit lens. I originally intended to use a UV filter to protect the lens, but others suggested using a lens hood instead to avoid adding another piece of glass in the light path. The lens hood eliminates sun flare in your shots and also provides some lens protection from bumps etc. I chose the Canon EW-73B lens hood as it wasn't much more expensive than the "fake" ones (only $21.50) . I also read reviews that the Canon version wasโ€ฆ

I'm glad I spent the extra money.

Yes, the hood can be bought cheaper. It's only there to protect the lens from glare and maybe protect it from scratches, right? This lens was made specifically for the Canon lens that I have. I'm slowly finding space. It has a velvet lining to reduce flare from the lens hood itself. I'm glad I spent the extra money to get a better lens hood. Just remove it when the lens hood makes it difficult to put the camera in your pocket. You can rotate the lens hood and it still fits on the camera lens to

It works but there is a problem.

Looks and feels real but I have many Canon lens hoods and this lens hood doesn't fit properly without a little tweaking. I have two premium lenses with lockable lens hoods and no problems. I also have four other lenses with lens hoods that were purchased separately through Amazon and direct from Canon with no issues. I'm not saying the lens hood doesn't work, it's just that it doesn't line up as easily as everyone else. The hood must be perfectly aligned to attach. It's not like the othersโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • No car

You may think you don't need this item because you won't see any obvious flare or flare in your photos, but you should have a lens hood for every lens you own. You will notice the difference immediately. It's amazing how much better your photos look when you use a lens hood. For the same reason, you can see better when standing in the sun if you wear a brimmed hat, like a baseball cap. A lens hood allows your camera to see better. And it not only obscures the front of the lens from the lightโ€ฆ
