The difference between this and other brands is that day and night.
Bought a cheaper version of this lens hood from another manufacturer and everything was fine. The off-brand hood fitted my Canon 18-135mm lens well, but it felt a bit cheap. I decided to buy a genuine Canon lens hood and oh my god there is a difference! Much thicker plastic with nice black felt in the hood. The fit and finish is way better than I thought, is it worth $27? Well, no, but the $10 one broke. So if I had bought it the first time, I might not have had to buy a replacement.
