Review on πŸ“· Canon EW-73B Lens Hood: Ideal Accessory for 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS EF-S and 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lenses by Ghostnote Hankins

It works but there is a problem.

Looks and feels real but I have many Canon lens hoods and this lens hood doesn't fit properly without a little tweaking. I have two premium lenses with lockable lens hoods and no problems. I also have four other lenses with lens hoods that were purchased separately through Amazon and direct from Canon with no issues. I'm not saying the lens hood doesn't work, it's just that it doesn't line up as easily as everyone else. The hood must be perfectly aligned to attach. It's not like the others where you can zoom in and just rotate it until it aligns and locks in place. It's not a locking hood, but the others snap and don't move, but this hood has about half an inch of play when it's on. It doesn't move freely at all, but it just won't stay straight if you accidentally rub it against your leg or hit something. I have a shoulder strap that allows the camera to hang on its side and sometimes the hood rolls off. This doesn't affect the frame, meaning the lens hood never enters the frame, it just stands crooked. I no longer have the old 18-135 to see if there is a difference between the nano and the old design. I know how to identify most fake photographic equipment, let alone fake it, but in the online shopping world, this is 100% known.

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • No car
