Enamel resists both heat and cold, so it's generally a good food storage material (basically anything you need to keep fresh and out of air and low want to protect weight). This enamel oil container is beautiful and easy to clean. However, it is clearly designed for the Japanese oil product specification/norm (I used this case for Japanese oil products when I lived in Japan) and so its height is slightly shorter for most American oil products. With that said, I now buy Kerrygold oil products (delicious Irish butter available in the US) which work great in this enamel case.
