I like this cone. I feed this to my young axolotls so I don't have to feed them with a syringe, dropper, or turkey noodles for half an hour. I started with a ring at the waterline and just a cone in the water like in other people's photos but it was too hard for my kids to get there so everything is underwater now, just flip the ring. first turn over to avoid trapping air under the lip and stick to the jar, then insert the cone. It now sits so that the end of the apex of the cone is about 1 inch off the substrate, at head level for the axe. I just thaw some frozen mosquito larvae or artemia and put them in a bag. Both products easily fit through holes. They eat when they want and the mess is minimal. Can't say it's not a mess because sometimes bits of food float and sometimes Axia are a little aggressive when vacuuming, but they do a good job cleaning up anything that might fall out.
