I almost always wear small pants (well, unless they're products from a random Amazon company), for reference I wear a size 4 on Lulu Lemon and a size 2 Athleta - when I bought these shorts I wanted them to be roomy to be lounge/sleepwear (definitely not going out in public) so I wanted the waistband to be very loose and I was aware of those that they recommended they were already pretty small so I upped them two sizes large and they YET don't have *that* loose belt (yes everything else is) as I wish I had bought a very large one. So if I buy another pair I will.
