The material is lighter brown than the picture and the backrests aren't as high as I would like, but the seats are soft and comfortable and feel quite sturdy. They were well packaged as 2 of the 4 boxes they came in were badly damaged and torn when I received them. Luckily the minor damage to the legs was covered up with black marker as I didn't feel like boxing them up and sending them back to get 2 more with the same or worse problem. Before removing the leg covers, I sealed the rivets and sprayed the seats with Scotchgard, hoping to avoid staining. Maybe it will make the color deeper but I didn't notice much of a difference. I also only added felt pads to the legs to avoid scratching my hardwood floors and they slide easily under and out of the table. Lots of compliments from others and I really like them.
