My MBP 13 can run an average of 10F cooler with this unit than with a replacement cooler. This unit is lighter and smaller than the old one, and the fan's USB power cord feels more durable. The USB power port provides an extra USB port to replace the used one, which is a thoughtful function. The edges of the pad are thin enough that medium sized binding clips can be used for cable management. of course, but they are blocked by the laptop and therefore do not interfere. A groove for the power cord is required on the bottom of the unit to keep the unit clear of the cord when the legs are not extended. Fans pull air out from under the laptop and throw it into your lap - actually it should be the other way around, sucking air in from below and blowing it onto the bottom of the laptop. But this way works.
