I ordered these trekking poles so I can keep the poles in my backpack when I don't need them. I originally gave this product a negative review because I thought there was no way to tighten the cable that holds the bars together. However, on my third use of the bars (I used tape to hold them together) I found that all you have to do is pull the bar down and a small pin pops out to hold it together. I felt like an idiot for not realizing this 6 months ago when I bought them, but in my defense it wasn't in the instructions. However, I am now very happy with these sticks. They're not as strong as semi-folding sticks, but I'm willing to sacrifice strength for portability.
