I'm sending it back - didn't use up a roll of film and failed

After reading all the reviews which turned out to be pretty good I decided to buy this scanner. I have 4000ft of Super 8 film that I want to convert. first I will give my impression of the characteristics; It's advertised as having multiple settings for exposure, brightness, and frame alignment, which is true, but you can't make those settings before you start scanning. You have to do a test run, remove the SD card and play it on a PC or something and make adjustments, rescan and reproduce to see if you're ok, so there are a few steps. The instructions are ok but could be more specific, it took me a few tries to press the buttons before I understood what they were saying, what was worse, the buttons had to be pressed multiple times to get to the next step, like there is no contact in the push button switch, you press the button and nothing happens. My first run with a 50ft roll went well, but when I switched to a 400ft roll, problems started. At first the take-up spool stopped while the ratchet that moved the film around the window continued, so after a few minutes I had the film on the floor. Then the pawl stopped along with the winding drum; I turned it off, restarted, it worked for a few minutes and the same thing happened, this scenario repeated several times and I gave up. I'm sending it back, it takes about 4 hours to make a 7 inch spool and you really can't get away from this thing, others have said the same thing. Also, my film is perfectly clean and the transfer slots are like new, but when I examined the film that went through the machine after the problems started, I saw scratches on the top edges of the slots, on inspection I saw a printing plate that was Pressing on the top part of the film to keep it in contact with the ratchet and the edges of this plate are very rough in my opinion; Having a rough metal edge pressing on your film is not good if you intend to keep the film. Maybe I have an exception, but my film is very important to me. I expect good results without damaging my film, I want something reliable and also I've spent a whole day trying to get this thing to work. The big problem is that all these scanners look the same if you examine them closely, so maybe you will get the same. one with a different name no matter who you buy from.
