Review on Brother ScanNCut Mat CAMATLOW12 - 12x12 Low Tack Adhesive for Fragile Materials - Replacement Accessory by Amber Perez

Worst mat BUT required for Brother ScanNCut

These are really terrible mats in terms of stickiness. They're quite sticky at first, but after very few uses, that stickiness quickly goes away. They are sturdy and have a good hanging hole. The mat comes with a clear protective sheet, but all cutting mats have one. The blue color is pleasant. I try to be as positive as possible! But I can't say that these rugs are good or even good. You are not! The die cutting machines they are designed for are ScanNCut 2 and Design Cutter. Period! It is not possible to use another manufacturer's mat with Brother machines to save money or get a better, more durable mat. It is also not possible to use the ScanNCut 2 mat with the new ScanNCut DX 125/225. Brother rugs are encoded with odd design numbers etc which are 'read' by the machine's little 'brain'. Tip: The DesignNCut machine is too limited to invest in. The Cricuts and Silhouette Cameo machines are much better and have equally brilliant software. However, I have nothing but praise for the Brother ScanNCut machines. They are truly unique in their ability to scan almost any thin/flat object placed on the mat; Figure drawings, stamped images, design paper, even your doodles! Then you can watch ScanNCut cut out the design with just one click! It's like magic. Or save the shape of the scanned image to reproduce the cut on a completely different type of material. Or draw the design onto other materials! You can find a lot of YouTube explaining how to clean and put back those frustrating but inevitable Brother rugs. Watch her! If you don't take this into account, you will end up spending a lot of money buying and buying back carpets. And while you tend to your mats, say a little prayer that Brother will eventually develop a mat that can be used in ALL machines AND develop a sticky surface that performs just as well as other manufacturers' mats on the market.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
