I bought this for my daughter to take water to school in her lunch box because the water bottle we had before was easy to open and with all her books papers etc in it the backpack got wet and got worse. I've been using it for a few months now and haven't had this problem! It closes well and tightly, and an additional metal hook helps keep it closed. After washing, it is recommended to store it uncovered tightly so that it can air dry completely and not get moldy. If you use it daily I recommend buying 2 so you always have a clean one ready to go. I've only bought one and sometimes I don't have time to wash it before repacking dinner for her. I haven't noticed mold growing in it yet, but I'm afraid it might happen if I never give it time to air out. But like I said, that hasn't happened yet. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because my 7 year old has a really hard time getting the metal hook off. Every day during lunch an adult should help her. She can close it herself, but has trouble opening it. Regardless, I would buy it again. It's better than blow-drying her books and homework every night because her water bottle is leaking, and it's cheaper and more environmentally friendly than buying bottled water.
