It's cheap enough to have low expectations but as others have noted you may not need to have expectations for this item. I installed it suspended from the ceiling in the center of an 8ft x 6ft laundry room, insulated with a solid door to the garage and another to the house (with a small cat door in the bottom corner). With both doors closed, even the shadow on the floor from someone walking past the little cat door seems enough to light a lightbulb. It's not that important. but indicates that he is hypersensitive. Or that? If someone enters the room, it lights up and switches off again after about 15 seconds. no matter what movement is going on next to it. I suggested frantically waving your hands during the wash. but unfortunately it can't hold the lightbulb or even turn it on again. ANY adjustment to the "timely" duration changes it from 15 seconds to 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 6 hours, 4 1/2 years or whatever it sees fit. So for us the obvious answer is that we just reduced it to 15 seconds, and every time it turns off we just leave the room, close the door and walk past the cat door to turn it back on. Voila!
