They have longer "legs" than other filter tools of the same design as mine, but honestly the gripper legs need "teeth" for a better grip. I found this wrench to slide the filter around until I hand inserted the legs into the old metal filter housing. It then still slipped but eventually dug into the filter housing and then worked well enough to remove the old filter. I suppose I'll file a few teeth on the gripping edges of the legs and see if that helps. This tool is well made and the legs fit the old filter nicely.
