Yes, 100% copper 18 gauge wire is real and the insulation is not cheap hard plastic that is difficult to remove or machine. I'm installing a 12 volt solar battery system so my family will be reasonably comfortable when the Big Impact hits Seattle (which means we could be in town without power for months. My family will have enough power to keep multiple cell phones charged , LI battery lights and works with a cluster of AA/AAA battery chargers. To date I have crimped, spliced and soldered about 17 of these wonderful little connectors. At $0.50 each they are a screaming deal. Just remember, that they are 18 gauge and carry a maximum current of 5 amps. I would therefore advise against plugging a small 10 amp charger into your car.
