Review on ☕ Melitta 640616 Coffee Maker: 52 oz Glass Carafe for the Perfect Brew by Leslie Wallace

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a great replacement for my 4 cup coffee maker --

Works as it should -- This review is to compare the one cup version of the Melitta coffee maker. (like the smaller version that comes with an extra mug instead of a carafe) I actually use this to fill my stainless steel travel mug and skip the carafe entirely. I like this better than my single cup filter because I can use the cheaper/easier to find 10-12 cup cone filters instead of 4 cup cone filters. Before I used the 10-12 cup filter in a 4 cup Melitta coffee maker I had the following problems WHILE USING THIS PRODUCT) 1) sometimes the coffee filter would "pop" into itself 2) the water would flow "Out of the Cone" 3) Towards the end of the brew, the process was sometimes painfully slow as I had less "volume" to brew. that I use this 10 cup coffee maker I have no such problems. Just a few remarks. 1) Unlike a 4 cup coffee maker, the base of the cone goes into the jug - this also makes the cone more durable as not all of the mass is above the 'jug lid'. The hole in this brewer is larger than the hole in the 4 cup brewer. You just need to change the pouring speed a bit to get the desired strength/extraction. Also, just a tip - when you first start brewing a pot or cup, you must first slowly "wet" the coffee grounds by dripping water over the entire top (not just in one spot), if the largest Some of the coffee gets "wet". , You can add water freely. Otherwise you will have a weak pour (dry coffee will remain on the water surface and will never be extracted).

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Long time
