This is the best tea and coffee carafe

I have been using this carafe for tea and coffee for many years. It is easy to clean and water. Since it is cleaned with each use, it does not leave any off-flavors. To make tea - either iced or hot - I put loose tea leaves in a carafe, pour over boiling water and let steep - usually 5 or 6 minutes. Then I pour it through a strainer into a serving teapot and it makes the perfect tea. For coffee, use a plastic cone with a filter (or metal filter) and pour boiling water over the coffee grounds…

Simple classic coffee maker

I've been using Melitta Pour Over Cofeansfee for about 30 years or more. I grind the coffee beans, put the beans in the filter and holder, heat fresh water and my coffee is ready the way I prefer. It's simple and inexpensive, and takes up very little counter space. Its main disadvantage is temperature control. But there are ways to get around this. If I use an electric kettle (which is in most hotel rooms worldwide, except in the US btw), I wait 10 seconds after boiling for it to cool to the…

  • Sad packaging

My only reservation when receiving this was that the coffee in the carafe would not stay hot enough. After reading other reviews I found that an easy and inexpensive solution was to buy a burner diffuser for my electric range. They are also sold for gas stoves. I have one, a wire grate, and it worked great with the burner on low, keeping the leftover coffee as hot as I'd like without damaging the fragile glass carafe. It's great to make as many cups as you like and each cup will be hot. Also…

Melitta is a great way to make coffee.

We've been using a Melitta coffee maker for our daily coffee needs for more years than I can admit. The procedure is simple and more or less reliable. The only downside is that the glass will break and sooner or later someone will drop it whole and have to replace it. This applies to any glass container. I used to go to the local A&P - they closed a long time ago and ShopRite kept them until 6 months ago. I was very happy to find it here and happy to be making coffee again. One piece of advice…

Great tasting coffee.

I have been using Melitta for many years. I've had kettles and electric drip models, but I keep coming back to Melitta. I find this to be the cleanest type of coffee maker. No tubes or water containers that cannot be cleaned. A plastic dripper with paper filters works well, but I ordered a stainless steel C-cup dripper to go with this coffee pot. I wanted to replace the one that came with the coffee pot because it's plastic and needs paper filters. It was the perfect combination. The dripper…

We use ours every day.

I have used a Keurig coffee maker for many years for its ease of use but the quality of the coffee is no longer the same. I was introduced to Melitta at a friend's cabin in the Alaskan bush. Easy. Boil water as needed, pour over your set and enjoy a great cup of coffee every time. First I took the smaller Melitta (Filter #4) and it's good but not big enough for 3 or 4 people. So I settled on a cup for 10 (#6 coffee filter). We have been using it every day for 3 years now. Was in a bit of a rush

  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Very expensive

This is a great replacement for my 4 cup coffee maker --

Works as it should -- This review is to compare the one cup version of the Melitta coffee maker. (like the smaller version that comes with an extra mug instead of a carafe) I actually use this to fill my stainless steel travel mug and skip the carafe entirely. I like this better than my single cup filter because I can use the cheaper/easier to find 10-12 cup cone filters instead of 4 cup cone filters. Before I used the 10-12 cup filter in a 4 cup Melitta coffee maker I had the following…
