We've been using a Melitta coffee maker for our daily coffee needs for more years than I can admit. The procedure is simple and more or less reliable. The only downside is that the glass will break and sooner or later someone will drop it whole and have to replace it. This applies to any glass container. I used to go to the local A&P - they closed a long time ago and ShopRite kept them until 6 months ago. I was very happy to find it here and happy to be making coffee again. One piece of advice I've taken to heart over the years: pop the beans, then fill the bag. By this I mean filling the cone with just enough water to cover the beans and allowing that bit to drain. Wait a few seconds, then fill the cone with water and proceed as usual. This adds a little extra flavor to the beans and makes for an amazing coffee.
