I have been using this carafe for tea and coffee for many years. It is easy to clean and water. Since it is cleaned with each use, it does not leave any off-flavors. To make tea - either iced or hot - I put loose tea leaves in a carafe, pour over boiling water and let steep - usually 5 or 6 minutes. Then I pour it through a strainer into a serving teapot and it makes the perfect tea. For coffee, use a plastic cone with a filter (or metal filter) and pour boiling water over the coffee grounds. The only problem with this carafe is that it can break if you bump into it. Be careful and you will have years of delicious coffee and/or tea from this carafe.
