You currently have two of these fans. The first fan is about 2 years old, the second about a year. Both are used almost every day. Both fans are practically silent at maximum speed. Both reduce the internal heat of the laptop and also reduce the frequency of the laptop's internal fan. Neither of them came with a "Y" cable. Both only use one port of the laptop they are connected to; and both have a USB connector integrated into the fan's USB connector as shown in one of the photos. In my situation, the built-in USB port is used for the wireless mouse receiver with no problems. In this way, The fan's USB connection is neutral to my laptop's USB port. Others have bought this fan on my recommendation and used it with no problems. The capital cost for the first fan, which cost more than the second fan, was approximately $0.032 per day of actual usage. The cost of a second fan is approximately $0.06 per day of actual usage. Of course, the investment costs for disposal decrease with each additional day of use. This eliminates any consideration of reducing possible maintenance costs and extending the lifespan of the connected laptops. And depending on the length of ownership, the actual costs are even lower. Fans are a good investment in my opinion. My laptop ownership dates back to 1994. All my laptops have worked with external fans. The longest I've owned one of my laptops has been just over 11 years. It was still working when I gave it away and it still is. It has always worked with a fan running underneath. (This is on the second external fan.)
