Real leather stool unlike some of the other stools at Revain (this is the third stool I've bought, the first two were clearly vinyl despite the claims). There was a strong leather smell when first opened, but that quickly dissipated. Overall it is very well made. The photos in the ad are generally true, except that the bottom of the stool was also leather with a center zip and not fabric. In fact, it's much more pleasant, it was a pleasant surprise. There are actually some defects, spots and marks on the skin - you really see those things on the skin. It's not the fanciest quality of leather you'll see on a wallet or shoes, but it's very affordable. Also, I was looking for a more rustic look and this is perfect. It comes with no filling which is amazing. I collected soft plastic bags and packaging materials that I couldn't recycle and didn't want to end up in landfill. I used a very old robe to darn the bodice so it was very comfortable and then went into town to darn the pouf! I used about three very large trash cans full of plastic bags and other materials. All of this stuff is wonderful to reuse, and you don't have to buy any stuffing either!
