This is a difficult pass for me.

I bought these with high hopes but was terribly disappointed. Connected to the circuit board (both front panel and rear panel) they sounded weak and tinny. When connected to my Sound Blaster Z, the increased amplification helped in terms of volume, but the insubstantiality/tinny undertone was now even more dominant. To take it even further, I hooked it up to a GoXLR for even more "gain". , nor tin. My XLR makes the $15 Walmart headset sound amazing, it didn't work here. I even went so far as to buy a USB adapter as a last resort to make sure it wasn't the device's power supply, just the quality of the speakers, still tinny/lacking substance. The standard faux leather ear pads are comfortable but feel cheap and I can tell they will crumble over time as it is a 'thin' material that will easily peel off if dried out OR overused. This is why I bought felt ear pads (look for genuine Sennheiser HZP 26 pads to replace the ear pads). They fit perfectly and made the device more comfortable, it didn't help the sound if something made it worse because your ear was no longer "locked up" in the skin, so they were replaced with the original ear pads. Looking for headphones that bang on my eardrums in some way but make absolutely no sense in a song or game I've been listening to just ruins the overall experience, especially at the higher $150 price point. Audiophiles absolutely hate them, and audio issues (whether there's an EQ control or not) caused issues in game where I couldn't hear footsteps, nothing going on around me. In FPS it is important to be aware of your surroundings, none of the settings on my PC allowed this without having to crank them up to 100% on both the PC and the headset. I wish I could give them less than 1 star but Revain won't allow it. I have already started returning these things, very unhappy. I will keep looking for something better.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
