I assembled the camera fairly quickly, although I had to cut off two screw heads which made assembly difficult - cheap metal. Nothing special because I have tons of different screws that did the job. The software is great. Strictly follow the instructions. To give a quick overview: 1) Connect the camera to a router or switch via Ethernet. If you use Wi-Fi, set it up later. 2) Download the hardware search tool software from Foscam website. 3) Scan the device with the software. This will give you the IP and port. Open the address in a browser. 4) Install the required internet browser plug-in. 5) Create a new username and password after attempting to log into the camera software. 6) Go to the "Settings" tab in the camera software and there you can set up Wi-Fi and more. *** I recommend updating the firmware BEFORE switching to WiFi. *** I recommend setting a static IP address in the router for this camera. I have set up an FTP service on my home computer and only allow connection using the camera's IP address. I then configured the camera settings to record everything on the FTP server. Also set up dynamic DNS so I can connect when I'm not at home. Works perfectly! The quality is excellent!
