So. It turns out that the coating is industrially made from leather scraps and will fall off after a few years. I have another model from the same company, it's peeling and looks pretty ugly. Because this block is made the same way, it will also flake off over time. Don't buy this box thinking you're getting a quality box that will last for decades like something made out of solid leather. It's worse than vinyl. I bought this unit before I noticed the original peeling off. Google "Bycast Leather Peeling" and you'll see horror all over the internet. If all you care about is that the device looks good for a few years, then everything is fine. Otherwise, be prepared to make a mess and end up with ugly furniture. The box itself is sturdy and has lasted a long time, but I haven't gotten anything wrapped in "leather" to be an ugly mess.
