Fantastic product / not so great customer support experience

For its price range, this is the best. Controlling the Falcon device was very problematic until luckily it died. DL20 is much better! But first experiences with the product and customer support can make all the difference in reviews. I have a 2015 RAV4. I felt like 21 feet of backup camera wire would be enough to get to the mirror. I was wrong as 6ft was eaten up just to run the cable from the hatch to the rear floor. So I ended up 4 feet shorter. This connection is a TRRS cable. Should be easy to find. What a mess, and the US manufacturers' reps were pretty clueless to begin with. When Chinese companies establish a presence in the US, one of the most important things that needs to happen is to properly train US support staff or you'll wish you had called them. . All I got from the female rep was how it fit in her truck, so she didn't understand why I had a length issue. Don't try to make your customer look stupid for fitting in your car. In the end I was told to contact support via message China. They replied to confirm it was 2.5mm and not the more common 3.5mm I see for TRRS cables. But they weren't available. I finally got the right cable (you can't use TRRS cable (tip, ring, ring, sleeve, god I'm trained in that!), it has to be designed to support a backup camera) on the Revain and it had one angled connection that is needed. If you go to the trouble of making a little printed starter guide, and then the customer comes to the front panel of the device and finds that you have to scan a QR code to download the full guide, that's pretty lame in my book. Give me a note at the very beginning so I can print it myself and then it's all with me. Save the tree yes, but don't cut it in half. Instant horrible experience. Finally everything worked. But I found a few annoyances. You have to manually brighten the screen in the morning because you darkened it the night before. This device distinguishes day and night in its design. The auto dim feature would be nice. I live in Southern California and my windows are open almost 24/7. The bright sunlight coming through the rear passenger window is just a matter of getting used to. The parking feature, where the device turns on and records if it senses movement, is great, but it's very annoying to start in the morning and walk a block and stare in the mirror only to find a menu that pops up Your answer is waiting. . So out of annoyance I put my finger on the undo area to get rid of it, but first made sure I didn't run over anyone! Hello manufacturers, set an automatic timeout to close this menu if there is no response for about 10 seconds! Thus, the design of the product and its features get an A despite the shortcomings I have indicated. This is an amazing device. Customer service gets E's as they were pretty much useless other than stating it was a 2.5mm connection. One more thing, if you're writing a how-to, your product will work much better here if you let the sentence structures work. When a Chinese writes, something gets lost and the sentences are not read correctly. The IT tech writer is here so it annoys me. Hopefully all of this information will help someone navigate the maze when they need to navigate the path of buying an extension cord. Aftercare after use. This product is rock solid. Only two elements stand out that I think could be a feature of the next model. Day and night auto-dimming should be automatic at every start. Manual adjustment is nice and convenient, but it should be done automatically. Also, my old Falcon unit was a microchip sideloader, but they used a regular adapter to make it bigger for us older folks with fat fingers. Very easy to remove or insert. Although this device looks aesthetically correct, the connector space is a bit narrow from the top, it is very difficult to remove the card. With the device installed and the mirror folded down, access to the slot is difficult and the card is difficult to remove with anything. Removing the assembly from the mirror for better access is an issue with the type of bracket used. I believe a side load adapter design would be more appropriate.

Pros
  • GPS module included: comes with a GPS module that helps record real-time location, current driving distance and driving speed. Reliable proof of when the traffic accident happened.
Cons
